⭐ Summary: Students will practice measuring using non-standard units of measurement. They will share their answers via the microphone frame. On the last page, they will measure two object in the classroom using non-standard units of measure and take photos of those objects with the units showing how they measured. Finally, they will compare the two objects and share which is longer/taller and how they know. βš“The first page is an anchor chart showing how to accurately measure. πŸ”‘Key Vocabulary: measure, non-standard unit, length, height, compare, estimate 🎯 In kindergarten, students were introduced to the idea of length as a measurable attribute and worked with linear measurement comparing longer than and shorter than. In 2nd grade, students will refine their measurement techniques and continue their work with nonstandard units and be introduced to standard units of measurement. ⭐This is a supplemental activity that can be used in conjunction with your district curriculum. ⭐This activity is best used whole group on an interactive board where students come up and manipulate the objects in the activity or on individual devices in focused small groups (especially for any voice or screen recording/video activities). πŸ›‘ Always preview videos/links to be sure they fit your audience/needs.
