Student Instructions

For this assignment, you will complete a collage at home. The collage will consist of different papers you cut or rip up into smallish pieces. The pieces should be no larger than 1" x 1" so that you have a large variety of them on your collage. Background: 8.5" x 11" paper. Choose your subject matter: animal, face, scene, etc. The trick is to show depth through the collage. Use at least 3-4 different tones in your collage. For instance, you would use a very dark color for shadows, a very light color for highlights, and at least 2 different tones for medium tones. Sketch out the areas that will receive each tone first on your paper and then start gluing. Use many colors if you can. You should not see any of your original background paper in the end. Spend at least 3 hours on the piece, but not all at the same time. Take a photo of your finished collage and upload to Seesaw. Explain what your collage depicts as well as something that you are proud of or something that was challenging.
