1. Read your child’s book with them. 2. Now retell the story with them. Touch your thumb and use the sentence starter...”the characters in the story are...” 3. Next touch your pointer finger and use the sentence starter “the story takes place...l 4. Touch your index finger and use the sentence starter “first....” and describe what happens in the beginning of the story. 5. Touch your ring finger and use the sentence starter “then....” and describe what happens in the middle of the story. 6. Touch your little finger and use the sentence starter “last....” and describe what happens in the end of the story. 7. Last talk about your favourite part or connect a personal memory with the story using “I remember when...” Your child retelling thier book using a “5 Finger Retell”
