Recycling Word Family Sort

Grades: Kindergarten, 1st Grade
Subjects: Science, English Language Arts

Student Instructions

First sort the items by objects you should reduce, reuse, and recycle. Then draw the object and write the word for the word family picture under the correct column on your recording sheet. Record yourself tracking as you read each of your word family words and uncover which group is meant to be reduced, reused, or recycled.

Teacher Notes (not visible to students)

Provide students with items to sort by the 3R's. Some reduce items may be a lightbulb, light switch, a ziploc bag full of water, and a toy car. Some reuse items may be a piece of clothing, a card board box, a book, and a paper shopping bag.
