Counting Principles 1, 2 and 3: Can you tell me how many objects are here? Counting Principle 5: When the child has completed the count, noticed whether they empahsise the last word. Even if they have emphasised the last number ask. How many objects are there? Counting Principle 4: Place objects in a line. How many objects are there? Counting Principle 3: Take a new collection of items and place in a line and ask the child to count the items starting in the middle. Point to an item in the middle. How many objects do we have? When you count the objects begin with this one (point to middle block) and make this number one.
