Student Instructions

Fractions with Chalk Have fun as a family playing outside with chalk and fractions 1. Use chalk to draw a large number line and write numbers 0-1 on the ends. 2. Split your number line into 8 pieces or parts. That means your denominator will be eighths. 3. Label each of your lines with the fraction. 4. Put a star on 4/8. Put a heart on 7/8. And put a smiley face on 1/8. 5. Press the Add button. 6. Take a photo or video of your number line! 7. Press the check to add to your journal. IF you don't want to do this outside - you can do it inside with paper and markers, or with paperclips and pipe-cleaners, or with any objects you find in your house :) Challenge: Extend the number line. Make another end point at 2! Put the letter P at 12/8!
