An improper fraction has a top number larger than the bottom number. A mixed number is a whole number and proper fraction together. 1. Page 2 - label Write the following improper fractions as mixed numbers. 5. Press check to submit your work. Parent Why: Although improper fractions are more convenient for precise arithmetic, mixed numbers are easier to use when making mental estimates or actually measuring things. Some say that mixed numbers are more real life, for example in recipes and in dividing physical quantities between people.
