Student Instructions

Learning Intention: Identify the role that the SLSO has in the classroom to support students. The SLSO works with the teacher to support students in their learning, organising classroom resources, supporting the wellbeing of students and assisting with the supervision of the class. Students sometimes treat SLSOs differently, acting as though they are "not the real teacher". This lesson strives to raise awareness of the importance of our SLSO in the classroom. Thinking questions: 1. Why do some classrooms have SLSOs and some not? 2. Is the SLSOs job the same as the teacher? What is the difference? 3. What are some tasks that an SLSO might complete? 4. How do you think you should treat an SLSO? 5. What might happen if you were disrespectful to the SLSO? Directions: List different tasks or responsibilities of the SLSO in your class. These could be daily tasks or tasks that occur occasionally.
