Student Instructions

Collecting Textures Activity: Go on a nature walk in your neighborhood or in your yard with a grown up (if safe to do so) and collect 3 different natural objects with patterns. Using a crayon (darker color works best), make a rubbing of one or all of the objects by putting the object under the paper and gently moving the crayon back and forth on the paper. You will see the pattern through the texture of the object. (Then take a picture of your rubbings and add them into this template by using the camera button to the left) This activity can be completed using paper you have on hand, the template is not required. Write one sentence to name the object. Write one sentence to describe the pattern and/or texture of the object. If a child needs more support, use this sentence frame and ask the child to fill in the blanks: It is ___ and has lots of ___.
